Autobiography of a coin

I was a piece of metal,
dug deep underground.
Two busy workers found me,
in their factory I was cut round.

I fell asleep for a few hours,
and woke up in a dark place.
Then I was pulled out suddenly,
to see a chubby man's  face.

A lady smiled to see me,
and I was exchanged for a sweet without a word.
You would have known the lady was a shopkeeper,
but to me the whole event was totally absurd.

The lady put me in her pocket which had a rather big hole,
and I rapidly  rolled out.
I spun 2 times and landed in a gutter,
Yuck! I started to shout.

A gush of water came rushing through,
and the fast current lead me away.
I sighed and splashed and spluttered,
oh, when will be the end of this horrible day?

Oops!!! I didn't notice I landed on a dolphin,
Who leaped and I was away.
Where exactly had I landed?
On a warm, sunny, bay!

A boy picked me up,
and took me to his house.
There I saw stuff I never saw before,
a doll, a bangle, a mouse!

There, I saw a pink big thing,
it had a hole on top.
The boy pushed me through,
and in I went - PLOP!

There were so many other coins,
they were so friendly I was shocked.
Suddenly I looked up,
the small hole was blocked.

Another coin told me,
" Don't worry, your new 'home' is found.
This is a 'piggy bank' meant for coins,
come, I will show you around.''

" My name is Olive."
The little coin said.
Oh! We have to go now,
it's time for bed!

I stayed in the piggy bank for many months,
until one day disaster struck.
Olive and me were pulled out,
and were taken to an ice cream truck.

Me and Olive were put in a drawer,
and I bet you can't guess what happened next to me!
In the form of taxes, me and Olive were given,
to the president of America . . . . . Yippee!

I understood, that life is a game,
and you just have to learn to live with it.
You may soar high, up in the sky,
Or might end up in a muddy pit!

The autumn fairy

A red leaf,
a shimmer in  the sky.
Hey! Is that a bird or a butterfly?

From a twinkle to a fairy,
the little shimmer turns.
Looking at the ground,
she is counting all the ferns.

It's the autumn fairy!
She has a paintbrush in her dainty hand.
There is a shower of orange and red,
and the dry, red leaves fill the land.

She waves her wand,
flies through the air.
Whispers 'goodbye'
and slowly disappears.

The autumn scene is outstanding,
better than before.
Thank you little fairy,
I couldn't ask for more.

I have alot of homework,
so I should really get back to my sum.
I hope to see the fairy again,
in this pleasant autumn.
